How Fossils Are Made

Hello Readers

Over the last 2 science lesson we have been learning about what are fossils and how fossils are formed, and our task was to create a animation/cartoon, about how fossils are formed.

What Are Fossils & How They Are Formed?

Fossils are the preserved remains, or traces of ancient organisms, plants, animals, and microbes, that are generally over 10,000 years old or older. There are two types of fossils, Trace Fossils like Dinosaur footprints, and Bone Fossils which are the bones of animal that bones have been turned into rocks and later put into museums if found by human beings.

Once a something dies its quickly buried with sediment then after a long period of time it gets compacted with a lot of soil, after that the bones gets turned into rocks, to become a fossil, then after millions of years. Humans will find it then it’ll be in the museum for a long time.

This took me a very long time to do, I hope you liked it and a good rest of your day Bye.

Amazon River

Hello Readers

Today we have been learning about rivers. What are rivers? A river is a natural, flowing stream of fresh water, typically originating in mountains and moving toward an ocean, lake , or another river. We’ve just started learning about rivers and we’ve learning some rivers all around the world including the Nile River in Egypt, The Amazon In South America and many more around the globe. Our teacher gave a task to fill out slides about rivers, and make a blog post about the River you chose. I chose The Amazon River.

Where is it?

The Amazon River is located in South America and flows through 3 different countries Peru, Columbia, and Brazil. But the Amazon River mainly covers Brazil with roughly 2/3 thirds or 60% or more of the Amazon Rain forest lies within Brazil, and majority of the Amazon River flows through Brazil before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.

How long is it?

The Amazon River is generally considered to be approximately 6,400 to 6992 kilometres long. Its still not the longest river in the world with The Nile River in Egypt beating it at 6,650 kilometres long. Its the second longest river in the world but its the number one in water volume.

Two Facts about it

  • The Amazon River is the world’s largest river by volume, discharging roughly 20% of the Earth’s freshwater into the Atlantic Ocean.
  • It is home to an estimated 3,000 types of fish, including piranhas and Arapaima, as well as unique mammals like the Amazon river dolphin (or boto ).

Fairy Bread Making

Hello Bloggers

Our task today was Fairy Bread Making but with a twist. We had to make it with our eyes closed which made it really hard but we were in a group of two which made things easier. Since one person is making the fairy bread with their eyes and the other person is tell the person maker what to do.

Ingredients

  • Bread
  • Margarine/Butter
  • Sprinkles

Equipment

  • Butter Knife
  • Napkin/Paper Plate
  • Mask- For eye mask (optional)

Method

  1.  Get required ingredients and equipment
  2.  Then get butter/margarine with a butter knife
  3.  After spread the butter all over the bread until every spot is covered
  4. Then get sprinkles and sprinkle all over the bread and reminder to not put too much sprinkles.
  5. Finally cut the Fairy Bread into quarters and then you have Fairy Bread.

The group I was in found this very challenging even I found this challenging since I couldn’t see anything. If we could do this another time I would get a eye-mask so people wouldn’t cheat and look at what they are doing. A problem I found was when eating the Fairy Bread, like people put to much better or not that much sprinkles.

Tap Dance

Hello Readers

My name is Panharith and I go to Te Manu Tukutuku South Hornby School and today our task today was to create a video about dancing. What was the dance we were doing? The dance we did was called Tap Dancing. What is Tap Dancing? Tap dancing is a percussive dance form where the dancer uses metal plates on their shoes to strike the floor and create rhythmic sounds, effectively turning their feet into musical instruments. I did this with a group of 3, myself, Cyrus, and Adam, which they are all my friends. This task didn’t take that long to take since we only had 10 minutes to record a video, and what I the easiest was probably recording the video. What I found the most challenging was actually learning the Tap Dance, since I never done Tap Dance, but I’ve heard about it. I hope you had a great time reading my blog post BYE!

Little Red Riding Hood

Hello Blogger

Welcome to my blog, my name is Panharith and over the past 2 week we have been story writing Little Red Riding Hood. In writing we have been learning to use precise nouns. What are precise nouns? Precise nouns are specific, clear words that name people, places, or things examples of precise nouns are  ‘Generic Word’ Car and ‘Precise Noun’ Lamborghini. If you don’t know who is Little Red Riding Hood is she is basically a story. The setting starts in the forest and a day Little Red’s mum baked a fresh baked of muffins for her sick grandma, and needed Little Red to deliver them to her grandma. Once she sets off and goes to her Grandma’s cottage she finds a wolf that had eaten her Grandmother! This story by me took almost a week to write and publish and blog. What I found the hardest was probably writing some of the paragraphs, and what I found the easiest was probably publishing on Canva and decorate it. I hope you had a wonderful time reading this blog post, have a nice day, Bye!

Character Profile

Hello Readers

My name is Panharith and I am from Te Manu Tukutuku and today our task was to create this Character Profile. To do this Character Profile we first had to read and answer the questions on the slides we made a copy of. We also read a book named Beans On Toast. It was about a boy named Toby who hurt his leg while doing parkour and he had to stay at home.  He got to lay on the comfy couch that his family had and his brother Joseph had to look after him. Toby would give Joseph instructions how to do stuff. He also got Joseph to make him a Beans On Toast. Toby yelled the recipe and ingredients across the room and Joseph had to follow them. He was having the time of his life. When he was doing parkour his friend Ryan recorded him getting hurt and posted it online for people to see which is a mean thing to do if they didn’t give you permission.  I hope you had a good time reading my blog post BYE.

Te Reo Maori Video 2.0

Kia Ora,

I’m Panharith and I’ll be showing you me and by buddy Eon’s video we did today. The video we had to record was all in Te Reo Maori, and some in English to translate, because some people might not know Te Reo Maori. The words in Maori we had to say were  “Homai Te Object Colour” an example is “Homai Te Pukapuka Whero” which means Pass me the red book.To record the video it took many tries wither it was a pronunciation mistake or something in a background, but the final video turned out great. There were nothing in the background and great pronunciation. What I found challenging was probably doing the pronucation because Te Reo Maori not my first language, but I think I nailed the pronunciation. What I found super easy was probably editing it on Canva, I just had to put the video on a Slideshow and a countdown, which took like 5 to 10 minutes.

I hope you enjoyed watching my Video and reading my blog post, please comment if you can and hope to see you in my next blog post, Bye.

Te Reo Maori Video

Kia Ora

I’m Panharith and today our task today was to create Te Reo Maori video, I did this video with my buddy Kyle. Me and Kyle asked questions in Te Reo Maori, we asked questions like ” Homai Te Pukapuka Whero ” which means ” Pass me the red book ” in English. I had fun creating this video with Kyle since we kept failing and took many attempts. To do this task we first had to write our scripts so we wouldn’t forget what to say. What I found the most trickiest was probably recording the video it self because we had to take Many attempts and also pronouncing  the Te Reo Maori words since it a hard language to learn. What I found the easiest was probably holding the stationary since I just have to hold it, I hope you had a great time reading my blog post and looking at my video please comment if you can and have a good day. I have one question for you have you ever tried say words in Te Reo Maori?

Silk

Kia Ora

I’m Panharith and today our task for the Uru Manuka Student Summit was to use Silk. What Is Silk? Silk is basically a drawing app which you can use to create cool art designs, if you drew a line on Silk it would duplicate on the other side you could turn this ability off and on, which I think is really useful when drawing a pattern or a art piece you want to make. The only bad part about Silk was that they had did not have a lot of colours, and next time I wished that Silk adds more colours for people to use. To do this task I first had to I first had to watch a video on how to do something on Silk, then I had to do my The task I had to do was to write my name on Silk, it took many tries since it was trick use Silk for the first time. I enjoyed using Silk for the first time, it was fun and creating unique patterns. What I found challenging was probably doing the letter because It was my first time using Silk. What I found the easiest using Silk was probably using the tool because it didn’t take too long, I hope you had a great time reading my blog post, Bye.

Plastic Footprint Animation

Hi my name is Panharith, and our task today was to create an animation on ‘Abode Express’, the animation was about Plastic Footprint. What is a Plastic Footprint? A Plastic Footprint means when a person throws away more plastic into the environment, and their plastic footprint might be bigger than others, or smaller than others. To do this task I first had to go on to ‘Adobe Express and click on make an animation. Then I had to record myself talking about Plastic Footprint and how to stop plastic pollution. Some examples to stop growing your Plastic Footprint is used a Reusable Water bottle instead of a plastic Pump Water Bottle and also use a reusable container instead of ziploc bags. This task was too hard, this things I found tricky was probably the talking about the Plastic Footprint and how to stop it. it took many tries. What I found the easiest was probably putting in the imaged of the water bottle and Tupperware, I hope you had a great time reading my blog post Bye.
